We all had a story growing up with textured hair. Those shared experiences, the products that didn't work, the routines that couldn't keep up, the conditions nobody seemed to design for, are what brought us together to build SLIQ.
We started as a community platform asking a simple question: what would textured haircare look like if it was actually built around how people with textured hair live? That question led us to science-driven formulas and clinical actives. DEEP IT is where we started. Everything we build from here follows the same logic.
The textured haircare category has grown. The science hasn't always kept up. We couldn't find formulas built around how people with textured hair actually live, switching styles, managing conditions, keeping up with real life. So we decided to build them ourselves.
To redefine textured haircare as intelligent, science-backed, and culturally grounded. We believe this category has been underserved not for lack of demand but for lack of ambition. We're here to change that, one considered formula at a time.

Our editorial content is held to the same standard we apply to everything we make — we don't publish anything we haven't thoroughly reviewed. We draw on our network of beauty experts, peer-reviewed research, and published medical studies, and we cite our sources where applicable. A common problem for the textured hair community is finding a stylist to trust. As part of our mission to make our reader's lives' easier, we built the UK's first peer reviewed directory uniquely dedicated to textured hair experts. To verify service providers listed, we anonymously reach out to an individual, typically via social media tags/posts, who has recently visited the stylist in the last 6-8 months to give their honest opinion of their experience. Reviewers are asked to answer a list of pre-set questions to ensure all feedback is balanced and fair. Once provided, we only edit responses for grammatical errors to preserve the opinions of our reviewers. To protect our reviewers, in some cases we obscure their identities using pseudonyms on request.
We have successfully raised equity financing from a diverse group of angel investors who back our mission.
